At one time up to 42 wells were documented in North Kerry.
Today the number is much less. The seven highlighted in the book 'In honour of nature: the sacred well in a new time' are all within a catchment area of 60miles(90km) round trip between Tralee, Listowel, Ballybunion, Ballyheigue and Ardfert. Some are situated in quiet, rural locations. A couple nestle at the edge of villages and some are in costal locations - useful for sea travel in older times.

The north Kerry area is divided between two ordnance survey maps. Number 63 covers part of Kerry and Clare and ends just north of Ballyheigue along the Kerryhead peninsula. Number 71 covers part of mid-Kerry including the Tralee area. Both, or either one of these maps can be purchased through this web-site, with the book 'In honour of nature: the sacred well in a new time'.
